Where should I hang my chime?
Did you know that the placement of your chime can make a difference in how often it rings? Each of our chimes are hand-tuned and designed to produce beautiful tones from each gentle breeze, but the placement of your chime also plays a part in how often it rings.
Here are some things to consider when choosing the perfect location for your chime:
Experiment with hanging your chime at different heights. The velocity of the wind tends to increase with higher elevation.
Hang your chime directly from the ring at the top of the chime. Adding a chain or string between the wind chime and the solid structure (house or tree) to lower the height of the chime can cause the entire chime to swing rather than just the center string and striker causing the chime to ring less often.
Try to avoid hanging your chime within two feet of a wall, plant or anything that may divert the flow of the wind. You may even find that the screens of a screened-in porch may be enough to impede the flow of the breeze and prevent your chime from ringing.
Try handing your chime where the wind can reach it from as many directions as possible. An open corner is ideal when hanging the chime from a building.
Experiment with hanging your chime in different locations throughout the year. The prevailing winds can change seasonally.
